Texas State Seal

Private use of the state seal is regulated by law. The state seal may be used for commercial purposes only if a license is obtained from the secretary of state and royalties are paid to the state. Persons needing information on private use of the state seal should contact the secretary of state.

Credit Services Organizations

Section 393.101, Finance Code, provides that, unless exempt from registration, before conducting business in Texas, a CSO must register with the secretary of state.

Athlete Agents

Athlete agents are governed by Chapter 2051 of the Texas Occupations Code and the secretary of state’s administrative rules found in Title 1, Chapter 78 of the Texas Administrative Code. Before an agent may recruit or solicit an athlete to enter into an agent contract, a financial services contract, or a professional sports services contract, an agent must obtain a certificate of registration from the secretary of state.
