RE: Precinct by Precinct Returns for May 11, 2013 Elections

Pursuant to Section 67.017 of the Texas Election Code (the “Code”), all political subdivisions must file precinct by precinct returns for all candidates and measures for each election with the Secretary of State. The Code also requires the returns to be submitted in an electronic form. There are three methods you can use to submit this report information to our office:

  1. You can put your returns into a Secretary of State defined Excel spread sheet and attach the spreadsheet to a web browser (instructions are provided);
  2. You can attach a file from your vote count machine (confer with your vendor for specific details);
  3. You can “build” your own report by inputting your precinct returns directly into the system. Since the state does not have information specific to your election, you will have to update the information required to report your election results.

The instructions for completing the precinct returns report (PDF) are available on our web site.

Precinct by precinct returns are required to be filed with this office no later than 30 days after the election. You must include both the early votes and the Election Day votes for candidates and measures in each precinct race being reported.

The online tool for submitting your precinct by precinct returns will be available for your election results on May 13, 2013.

Your temporary password will be provided via email. You will be required to create a new password before proceeding to complete the form.

If you have any questions regarding this report, please contact Juanita Woods toll-free at 1-800-252-VOTE (8683).

If your election was cancelled, please follow the procedures to set up your election and then follow the cancellation procedures that are included on page 15 of the instructions posted on our website.
