Waco, TX — Today, Texas Secretary of State Carlos Cascos continued his Down to Business Tour in Waco by speaking at the Governor’s Small Business Forum.

“My message today in McLennan County is that Texas’ pro-business policies don’t just benefit large cities like Houston and Dallas, but they also create opportunities for small and rural communities across the state,” said Cascos.

Since taking office in March, Secretary Cascos has been touring the state on his Down to Business Tour to highlight the strength and diversity of the Texas economy. The Governor’s Small Business Forum in Waco, where Secretary Cascos delivered the Tuesday keynote address, focused on the rural side of the Texas economy.

Secretary Cascos encouraged leaders in rural communities to develop what makes them unique and market that as an advantage to specific industries.

“One idea for any community looking to encourage economic growth is to find its niche,” said Secretary Cascos. “This strategy is especially important for rural communities because it gives them a way to compete and helps foster the businesses that are already investing in the area.”

Secretary Cascos will continue his tour throughout the summer.
