Copies of documents on file with the section or certificates issued by the Secretary of State regarding filings, including certificates of status (certificates of existence) may be ordered:

In order to make copies of documents electronically accessible, our office is in the process of converting our paper documents to images. During this process we also verify information maintained on our system in order to provide more accurate information. This does take some time and will cause a delay in processing a request for copies on documents filed prior to August 2001, but the long-term benefit will assist all who do business with our office.
The current processing time for requests for copies is from 4 to 5 business days. Certificates of status, however, are generally processed within one business day of the request’s receipt. Expedited handling is available for an additional charge of $10.00. When expedited handling is requested, the copy order will be completed within 1 to 3 business days after the receipt of the request. The request for expedited handling must be made at the time the order is placed. A request to receive copies or certificates by facsimile is considered to be a request for expedited handling and will be charged accordingly. There is no expedite fee assessed for certificates & copies ordered online through SOSDirect.
