WACO– Today, Texas Secretary of State Phil Wilson joined Waco Mayor Virginia DuPuy, Steve Larson, President of Caterpillar Logistic Services, Inc. (Cat Logistics), and many other local business leaders to celebrate the groundbreaking of Cat Logistics’ new parts distribution center. The 500,000 square-foot parts distribution center will create more than 100 new jobs in Texas in its first two years.
“Cat Logistics’ expansion into Texas is a powerful reminder of the profitable business environment we have created in our state as we continue to add jobs as the rest of the nation experiences economic challenges,” Wilson said. “This project will not only bring new jobs and wages to the Waco community today, but will support our state’s economy through millions of dollars in sales tax revenues added over the next decade.”
Upon completion, which is expected in early 2009, the new distribution center will modernize Caterpillar Inc.’s service parts distribution network and will serve six Caterpillar dealers in North America.
Along with his responsibilities as Secretary of State, Wilson currently leads the state’s efforts in economic development and job creation. Since 2004, the state has added more than one million net, new jobs, far outpacing the national average job growth rate.
“Texas is positioned as a national and global business leader thanks to the foresight and vision of its leaders,” Wilson added. “I am proud of our success and am confident that we will see more new projects like Cat Logistics in the years to come.”
